VALID Implementation Team wins Tech Innovation Award

The NJLA CUS/ACRL-NJ Technology Committee awarded its 2013 4-Year Institution Technology Innovation Award on March 27th, 2013 to the VALID Implementation Team, the VALE group charged with the technical implementation of the consortium’s future, open-source, shared integrated library system. In announcing its award, the Technology Committee recognized the Team’s VALID discovery layer project which demonstrated that VuFind, an open-source discovery tool, can successfully search a VALID test database composed of 50,000 bibliographic records from the five alpha implementer libraries. The award announcement cited the innovation as having many benefits to librarians and the community of future users.
The VALID Implementation Team (VOIT) is chaired by Kurt Wagner (William Paterson University) and its members are Grace Agnew (Rutgers University), Guy Dobson (Drew University), Ann Hoang (New Jersey Institute of Technology), Christopher Sterbeck (Rutgers University) and Yongming Wang (The College of New Jersey). Their project will be showcased at the NJLA Annual Conference on Wednesday, June 5 at 9:00 am during the Technology Innovation Forum.
